American Smoketree  Cotinus. obovatus  A small, rounded tree that is native to the southeast U.S. used during the Civil War to make dyes. Bluish dark green foliage turns intense colors of yellow, orange,amber,red and reddish purple in the fall. Mature height 25'. 
Grace Smoketree  Cotinus coggygria x obovatus 'Grace'  Spring foliage emerges light red and matures to a rich wine-red. Purplish-pink flowers emerge like smoky plumes. Fall color is a showy mix of orange, red, purple, and gold. Mature height 20'. 
Royal Purple Smoketree  Cotinus coggygria x obovatus 'Royal Purple'  A small tree with an open crown. Slow growing. Deep purple leaves turn a rich red-purple in the fall. Look for large panicles of wispy, purple colored flowers in early summer. Mature height 15' 
Velvet Cloak Smoketree  Cotinus coggygria x obovatus 'Velvet Cloak'  This cultivar has deep red-purple foliage. Fall color is a vivid red-purple. Large panicles of wispy purple flowers appear in spring giving the effect of a cloud of smoke.
